Police Dismiss Corporal For Killing Varsity Student

Following public cry for justice, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Benin, has dismissed a police corporal, Amadi Idahosa, over the killing of a final year student of the University of Benin, Ibrahim Momodu.
Ibrahim was shot on May 27, on Textle Mill Road, Benin, by policemen led by CSP Carol Afegbai. He was buried but later exhumed on the orders of a court.
Afegbai was Divisional Police Officer of Ogida Police Station, until she was redeployed over the incident.
Police sources said Amadi, who served as orderly to Afegbai, was dismissed after an orderly room trial and he is to face prosecution at the law court.
Meanwhile, the police high command has confirmed the detention of the Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Chidi Lloyd.
According to statement by the deputy force public relations officer, CSP Frank Mba, yesterday, Lloyd had on July 23, 2013, reported at the Force CID, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in response to a summon earlier issued by the police high command.
