Misplaced Priority: Bane of Nigeria Goverment

Misplaced priority and wasteful spending are common phenomenon among the Nigerian Government administrators. Ranging from the local government chairmen to the Federal Government, all have imbibed in execution of projects that will not readily add value to the life of their subjects. When good projects are laid hands upon a time, such projects are abandoned just at the pick of their complexion. These have been resulted in wasteful spending and snail-moving development of the nation, both socially and economically.

In Iseyin local government area of Oyo state, a Senatorial appointee representing Iseyin Federal constituency could not think of any other way to compensate his people than to dug a borehole that will never function for a day at Kelani college, Oremoje heights-Iseyin. Also, a chairman in Iseyin local Government started a good project of constructing community health center at Ekunle area of Iseyin, but was abandoned at its point of complexion.
Going to the state level, a state governor in Osun state in quest to improve the quality of education in the state invested largely in procuring computer Tablets for the students in all her secondary schools. This is good, but looking at the huge amount of money involved and some other pressing need of the state; it could ended a misplaced priority and wasteful spending. Again, a state that has no proving economic generated resources who at the languishing in poverty of her subjects went ahead to procure Helicopter can be referred to a misplaced priority and wasteful spending.
In the same vein, some states out of curiosity has decided to construct Airport in their states without even thinking twice on the huge cost involved and the relevance of that capital intensive project at that time. To me, this is a misplaced priority and wasteful spending.
In the same vein, the Federal government of Nigeria has so many abandoned projects which cross across the nation. Most of these capital projects were at their point of complexion but were summarily abandoned due to the best reason known to them. Example of such projects is Ikere Gorge Dam which covered about 47 km2 in Iseyin Local government area of Oyo state. The dam was discovered alongside Kaniji dam and started during Obasanjo military regime in the 80s, but was abandoned at its 95% complexion. The imported turbine and other equipments meant to generate electricity were left to rot away.

The implication of these is retrogression in the development of the country and increase in the poor standard of living of Nigerians. Our government representative should stop thinking of their own alone; they should stop enriching their pockets at the detriment of the Nigerians.
People are suffering and our government should please draw their table of scale of preferences in a perfect order, and when such is done projects should be completed and functional.
It will do us well, if all the abandoned projects across the country are completed even before laying hands upon the new one whose complexion and functionality could not even guaranteed
