Rats and Mice infestation is widespread in Nigeria. It is taken as a given that every home has rats. This is reflected in the offhand way we regard them. Though an overstatement, the degree and extent of infestation makes such generalisations quite apt. Not even the first-class hotels can boast complete freedom from the rodent threat. Guests are full of tales of embarrassing assaults by rats and mice while in the supposed comfort of exclusive hotel rooms,Home,Hospitals, and the premium industrial and financial establishments. These organisations haemorrhage millions of Naira to the rat and mice scourge. Operational risks are realised as rodents destroy network cables, breeching communication; or as they destroy the insulation on electrical cables, often starting fires.
Rats is also responsible for the infestation of Lasa Fever "a deadly Fever" which is on the increase in Nigeria today.
