Former President Olusegun Obasanjo donates Books to Iseyin pupils


Iseyin city was in a great jubilation when The Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation visited the ancient city to distribute textbooks as well as exercise books to primary school pupils .


The distribution which was done at L.A. Primary School, Oke Esa, Iseyin has the monarch of the city,The Aseyin of Iseyin Land, Oba Abdulganiy Adekunle Salau; the Chief Imam of Iseyinland, Sheikh AbdulAkeem Olajori; the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party,Oyo State, Alhaji Yunus Mustapha and other prominent people from the nook and cranny of the city in attendance.

The Chief Executive Officer of the OOF, Dr Olalekan Makinde, explained that the foundation was formed because of the importance which former President Olusegun Obasanjo attached to health and agriculture.

He said, “Today’s event is to assist masses especially children in under-developed and developing communities in every nook and cranny of Nigeria and beyond.”

Dr. Makinde advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the material, saying striving to succeed would make them to be useful to themselves and families and the world.

According to the information gathered, the choice of Iseyin pupils as beneficiaries was said to have been influenced by a prominent of Indigene of the town, Alhaji Ahmed Raji (SAN).

On his part, Raji lauded the former president for his commitments and dedication towards making life worthy of living for the downtrodden.

The lawyer, on behalf of people of the town, appreciated the foundation for making Iseyin, one of the beneficiaries of free books for primary pupils across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

He said, “I am extremely happy I and my people give glory to God and appreciate Baba Obasanjo for giving us the privilege and honour to have this kind of event here. We believe this is going to encourage our pupils to be more serious about their education.”
